180 Posts Later (Day Zero Project)

When I was beginning my blogging journey, I came across a blog with a ‘Day Zero Project’, Tiddlyompompom blog ‘Where the brass band plays‘, do check out her Day Zero Project here and her lovely blog. I loved the idea of committing to a set of challenges. It was my intention to write mine when I set up this blog. So here we are, 180 posts later and finally I’ve written it. It has a shiny page all its own (here).
Given, that it’s taken me so long to do, it has reinforced to me that I really I need focus and commitment and a list to get things done. The aim of posting the list is motivation, it’s a public declaration (which feels a bit scary) of my intentions.

It wasn’t as easy as I’d expected, initially I struggled with finding a whole 101 things, then I went to Day Zero website for further inspiration and then I struggled to narrow it down. I have 1001 days to achieve this list, which takes me to 24th July 2014. Mr Noo and I debated, hotly, what should go on. His view it should be dancing tangos in Argentina and seeing the Northern Lights, both of which appealed but I’m more of a realist and given that because a lot of the list is places we want to visit, I’ve sort of mapped out our holidays until 2014, and I think lights and tangos are more ‘someday’ projects rather than within the next two and three-quarter years.

I’ve set myself some challenges; things I’d usually avoid, like vlogging and presenting and the ukulele (this may end up in combination, watch this space). A lot are places I’d like to visit, some are aspirations I have for my son. Some are goals that I really want to achieve, soon, like getting a new job and moving. So here it begins, I will be updating along the way, but feel free to slap me if I’m not getting on with it.

So, what would be on your list? either in the next 1001 days or on a ‘someday’ list?

I also signed up with another blog (I don’t think it was Tiddlyompompom) who is running a list/group/linky ting for day Zero. And I promised to write it up and link. Mine started on October 4th – but it’s so easy (too easy) to change the date if you see the days slipping away before you’ve got started. I only have 34 things on my list so far but it is always there at the back of my mind…. Good luck with yours.

I’ve seen a few of these around the blogosphere and have wondered if I should join in… I’ll follow yours avidly. Tiddlyompompom is in my ‘inspiring blogs’ folder in GReader – maybe your list means I need to move you from ‘thoughtful’ to ‘inspiring’?! 🙂

Good for you. Mine is definitely giving me a bit of a kick up the arse to stop putting off things I actually want/need to get on with. Look forward to watching you tick them off and have linked up your list to my page. Go forth and TICK! x
