Being a Mother

There’s a lot said about Mothers; I’ve read that Motherhood is boring. Being a Mother is exhausting and tiring. Mothers are dull. Working Mothers, single Mothers, stay at home Mothers…. there’s always an opinion being banded around.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever.

Being a Mother and watching your child ride a bike for the first time.
A swell of pride, a broad grin, wanting to cry but knowing that would be ridiculous. Crying a little anyway. Tears and smiles. A feeling of joy at the first tentative wobbles.

Creating a wonderful memory of standing in the Winter’s cold watching your ‘baby’ cycle away from you, finding a confidence with each turn of the pedal; independent, growing up and very proud.

At that moment being a Mother is perfect.

We sit on our bike and are just learning how the pedals can make it go – I alsways look to Noo through your posts to see what the next year will hold. Btw – you don’t need to cry until you see him riding off with a backpack/sleeping bag.

Those moments are what it’s all about. I don’t think I’ve ever thought of motherhood as dull and I just acknowledge the tiredness. What motherhood definitely is,is challenging but it’s a challenge that I really believe has brought out the best in me. I have to say I can’t wait for the moment when I can take pictures of the boys on their bikes for the first time xx

Being a mother is the best thing in the world. If only just for moments like these. I seem to be finding myself welling up with pride quite a lot at the moment as my three year old seems to be doing so much growing up and achieving so many things right now.

Lovely photos. It is such a milestone, learning to ride a bike. It took my son a lot longer than most children but when that moment came it felt great! As for motherhood, its a rollercoaster ride and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Love the cycle park you’re at, looks great fun! Lots of rubbish written about motherhood, but moments like that are what it’s really all about. I got all those feelings even when the little man pedalled his small bike with stabilisers for the first time! That will be us this spring when the he gets his first proper grown up bike.
