Christmas is a mere month away, and Christmas is absolutely about extra indulgences and treats, a slice of luxury. Harrods is utterly synonymous with luxury, combine the two and you have the perfect.
The weeks before Christmas can often feel less than indulgent, as the frantic rush to pull everything together gathers pace. Having been sent The, packed with sumptuous Christmas treats, I thought it would be more than lovely, to invite some friends over for a small tea party, to welcome the Christmas spirit and of course, indulgences are best shared.
Harrods Luxury Hamper has all tastes and smells of Christmas, add music: The Ronnettes, Sleigh Ride; “Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring ting tingling too”… for a full sensory experience. Children swiped the biscuits, “oooh these are Christmassy”.
The adults added crumpets to spiced plum and fig jam and tangerine marmalade with orange liqueur. Omi Ground Coffee was served and “liquid Christmas” spiced black tea. It made a very special high tea, for a Christmas breakfast, it would be a magical spread.
Children vanished in the direction of Lego, the menfolk in another room on a DIY query. Which left two women, a Christmas Pudding and Brandy Butter laced with Courvoisier, by this time, the sounds of the wintry and atmospheric Fleet Foxes kept us company, the conversation; Christmas Wish Lists and Fashion Bloggers (there is an inextricable link).
The Christmas pudding beckoned, it seemed churlish to eat without something sparkling and chilled, Prosecco found, a glass each and one small mouthful of delicious Christmas pudding and a touch of melting brandy butter, just to see how it tasted…… before calling the others….. “very more-ish”. A bit too good to share. Sometimes, those that appreciate things most are the most appropriate to enjoy them, and it so it was gone and surprisingly, so was the Prosecco (and I completely forgot to take a photo).
Perfect afternoon, I feel already for Christmas now.
I was send, all words and opinions are my own.
