At the end of last year I wrote a post about how much I love maps, with some stylish ideas for decorating with maps. I suggested some sites that I liked for sourcing maps, including Mapify. Mapify are Alistair and Lena and they got in touch recently, to say hello and talk about the type of work they do. The upshot of our email exchange is a Mapify review and telling you a little bit more about Mapify.
Mapify make beautiful maps, printed on high quality paper. Personalised to any city or any place, anywhere across the globe.
Pick a map and frame it
Simply, go to their website, pick a map from the shop or type in a place. Select a size, portrait or landscape, maybe a statement panoramic print. My choice of city was portrait print of London, personalised and adjusted a little. London, is where I grew up, it has my heart. Although I was tempted by the larger 100 x 70 cm, I decided on 50 x 70 cm. Thinking the smaller size would give me more flexibility when deciding a place to hang it. I ordered from the simplest, lightweight frame at a very reasonable £12.50. However, they also supply handmade frames made by Hans, their frame maker, wood frames to fit all sizes including the 1.8m panoramic. The cost of the print was €49 (approx £42).
The thing I love about creating a map is the individually, you can create an image that recollects a moment, a summer, childhood. Capturing all those associations that places have and there is an option to zoom, right down to footpaths.
Wedding and Valentine gifts
Mapfiy make romantic maps. Pick a map, add a heart, maybe the place you proposed, first met, the venue for your wedding. Add a personal message and you have something very personal. Order before 14th February and there is a discount on the Mapify site.
It’s all in the details
Once, you decide on your creation. There’s an option for Mapify to send you an email preview your map. Just so you can see how your finished map will look. The business is based out Alistair and Lena’s living room in Frankfurt which makes it very personal. I liked that I received, not just an email to say my map had been dispatched, but one to say it had been delivered and who signed for it.
Mapify review
When I mentioned Mapify, it was because I’d browsed their website and liked the style. Honestly, how did I find Mapify? The ordering was easy, the despatch was fast. I ordered late on Tuesday 31st and my map arrived on Monday 6th. The print framed and nicely wrapped. I’m really delighted with how my map looks.
The patterns of the streets are memorising, I recognise areas and places. London is ever-changing but much of the history in the buildings the streets, stays the same and for me, who grew up, worked and lived for many years there is a familiarity and memories that I can trace in the topography. The simple style of the map makes for beautiful wall art. There are twilight and pop art versions, but I love the simplicity of black upon white which fits in anywhere.
Disclosure: I was sent the map to review, as always all word and opinions are my own.
I really think they should send you one of Bristol to go on the other wall.
I have a little list of other places! Bristol would be good too 😉
Would make the most special present to a loved one x
I think so, special places are so personal, so attached to memories and moments.
Really lovely. I recently ordered two similar for our past temporary homes. I smile when I see Kobenhavn and Munchen on my wall (whilst wondering where else I could add to them!) 😀
With all your travels, many many places! My partner wants a San Fransisco one, as that is one of his favourite places.
Wow, it looks amazing!
Probably I will order the same map of Paris
Thanks for sharing 🙂
Paris would be a lovely one to have.
